What to expect when visiting the shop
Preparing for a custom framing consultation involves more than just bringing your artwork; it's about providing the right context to ensure the final piece complements your home perfectly.
Consultation Checklist: What to Bring
The Physical Artwork: Always bring the actual item so the framer can take exact measurements and see the true colors and textures.
Photos of Your Space: Snap pictures of the room where the piece will hang to help the framer understand your décor style.
Color References: Bring fabric swatches, paint chips, or even a small piece of wood (like a cabinet drawer) to match existing colors and finishes in your room.
Wall Measurements: Take a rough measurement of the wall space to ensure the final framed project is properly scaled.
Custom Framing Pricing Guide
Prices vary significantly based on size and materials. On average, most custom jobs fall between $100 and $400.
Project Size Typical Price Range
Small (e.g., 8"x10"$50 – $150
Medium (e.g., 16"x20")$100 – $350
Large (e.g., 24"x36")$200 – $600+
Factors that increase cost:
Preservation Quality: Acid-free mats and backing and UV-protective or UV-protective anti glare "Museum Glass" add to the total but protect art from fading and yellowing over time.
Frame Complexity: Intricate, high-end wood or ornate metal frames cost significantly more than simple styles.
Specialty Mounting: Techniques like shadowboxing for 3D items or "float mounting" for canvases involve additional labor.
